Kevin O’Leary’s “Cold Hard Truth On Men, Women & Money”, is the book that started it all for me and guided me through the beginning stages of my financial journey. The book is an excellent financial guide regardless of what stage you are at in life. It is a four-part guide starting with how to spend less, save more and invest right. Part two is all about the youth and their knowledge of money, the cost of their higher education, and their early dating years. Marriage and mortgages falls into part three, learning how to minimize wedding expense, minimizing baby spending madness, and other avoidable money pits. The book finishes off dealing with midlife debt, dealing with divorce and remarriage, and how to retire leaving a legacy behind.
Part one was the most beneficial for me at the starting point of this journey. It had a variety of real life examples to inspire and motivate me onto the right path. There was an abundance of tips and tricks on how to budget, cut down cost, and free up some extra money. I loved Kevin’s investing strategies, they just made sense to me, and I still follow and implement many of his rules with my investing today.
Overall this is a must-read book, even if you only read part one. Top of my list.
